How Pinterest is Bringing AI to the Forefront Accenture

#artificialintelligence

Pinterest, the image sharing service, has billions of images, known as "pins," that millions of users organize, save and persuse. But with so much content, displaying interesting and useful pins for each user is a challenge. One of Pinterest's recent efforts in improving this experience illustrates Trend 1 of the Accenture Technology Vision 2017, "AI is the New UI." For years, Pinterest has been experimenting with artificial intelligence, and one of the most popular ways to find new images is through Related Pins โ€“ an AI-driven recommendation system based on what users have pinned before. This year, Pinterest is taking things a step further.

Symantec launches endpoint protection solution based on artificial intelligence ZDNet

#artificialintelligence

Symantec has launched Endpoint Protection 14, a new security solution which harnesses artificial intelligence to protect clients. Announced on November 1, the new security offering is powered by AI and machine learning on the endpoint and in the cloud. Symantec says that by harnessing machine learning to collate data and detect patterns and anomalies which may indicate a cyberattack, AI provides "a multi-layered solution able to stop advanced threats and respond at the endpoint regardless of how the attack is launched." Symantec Endpoint Protection combines machine learning, memory exploit mitigation, and threat intelligence provided by Symantec and Blue Coat, which combined their research and security operations in October after Symantec completed the acquisition of Blue Coat for $4.6 billion. The company also says that the solution is capable of 99.9 percent efficacy, low false positives, and a 70 percent carbon footprint reduction in comparison to past endpoint software.

Symantec said it has bolstered its security intelligence tools by integrating Blue Coat's technology. The integration on threat detection comes after Symantec's $4.6 billion acquisition of Blue Coat. The company said it has integrated product lines for data loss prevention and cloud protection. According to Symantec, the addition of Blue Coat's artificial intelligence tools and security telemetry gives it the ability to analyze 9 trillion elements of security data. The data is used to thwart incoming attacks.
